Marriage.. Better for who?
I was pleasantly surprised by CNBC the other morning when I saw the following video. It’s interesting to hear that men are marrying more women who financially earn more and are higher educated.
Note-worthy facts:
- Men still out earn women but the gap is narrowing – US Census Bureau.
- Pace of women out earning husbands – quadrupled since 1970
- During this recession 10% men lost their jobs & 8% women lost their jobs
- Wife better educated 28% in marriage
Seems there is starting to be a role reversal. Don’t hear much about housewives. Makes you wonder how many househusbands are there?
What is great as that in today’s society anything goes! If you want to be a career woman/man and also take care of your house you can. Anything is possible with hard work and relentless dedication. I plan on being a career woman and having a family.. some day
Must admit the sound of a cleaning lady to do the work that nobody wants to definitely sounds appealing!
Another interesting fact about women, on average women live longer. Men you gotta catch up, women are just getting stronger day by day. Is it because as a gender we have that gene within us that pushes us to work on ourselves and better ourselves? Hmmm..
*Embeding of video does not seem to be working so please go here:

Why are you “pleasantly surprised” that men are marrying women that earn more and are more educated? What’s pleasant about that? What’s “pleasant” about males dropping out of school and not being able to get good jobs? Would you find it “pleasant” if you couldn’t get a job?
You don’t hear much about housewives? Perhaps you need to get out more. Or least look out your window. There are over 5 million housewives versus 200,000 househusbands.

I am pleasantly surprised as women have been in oppressed for years. Working the same jobs as men, yet due to their gender earning less. Nobody should be paid more/less due to gender, race, ethnicity or any reason.
We need to work towards a better, positive future, with equal rights for all.
If men drop out of school that is their choice. Of course losing my job and resistance in getting a new one, would not be pleasant. But instead of complaining about it I would go out and look for one, relentlessly until I secured one. Times are changing and many are set on the jobs, lives, they once had. You can’t dwell in the past, focus on the future. Unfortunately the future may not initially be inspiring but these times are humbling and only the strong will survive.

If the roles are being reversed the question lies: Since marriage is the last legal form of slavery of men, will it now be for women. It’s my belief that it will not. The wife will though, allow the husband to wear the pants in the family, she’ll just pick them out in the morning for him.
